It's OK. Could be so much better. The atmosphere and food are both lovely, but... The wine selection is shocking and it's hard to find a decent bottle without spending over 60 pounds, which I feel is a tiny bit excessive for a local restaurant. The house wines by the glass are undrinkable. Such a shame because it could be excellent. Service was OK. I think the staff need educating on what the food and wines taste like some that they would understand questions asked.
Came here for my girlfriends birthday in November and was very impressed. Food is great, presentation even greater. The staff are very helpful and gave suggestions on what is the most suiting drink to go with my meal. Without even telling them, they have prepared a little plate with a desert and small decoration on it to wish my girlfriend a happy birthday. While the price is fairly steep, you do receive the customer service you deserve. Would recommend for anyone in Southend to try it out!
We decided to have a selection of starters for lunch. They were all excellent... Unfortunately the girl who welcomed us in initially upon our arrival, led us to believe that we would need to hurry our lunch as there were tables booked in from 4 pm last Friday. We arrived at 1. 45 pm.....plenty of time for lunch for 4. She made us feel as though she didn't want us there.... The restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived and there was still plenty of room when we left. Consequently, our host who lives locally will not be returning to this particular venue, though the service we received after was very good.... And we loved the food.... The girl was abrupt and did not make us feel welcome or as though we were valued customers. Businesses who treat people in this way do well to remember how many people tell everyone when the experience is bad,, considerably fewer tell our friends about the good experiences we have.
First visit! Went there for a meal but you can go just for drinks. Good menu selection and the food was well presented and tasty. Children were clearly welcome and the staff were attentive. Medium pricing. However, the lighting is so subdued it was difficult to see the menu and the piped music was a bit too loud.
